Today is a rest day in Boten. Washing the bike and arranging things. Had breakfast with two guys from the two Malaysian bike groups. Mainly 1250 GSs and six Harley Davidsons. Most BMWs are on the way to Munich and some of the Harleys are on the way to London. They crossed already today to China. They are certainly on a mission, trying to make the trip in 2 months. To make it, they will take the direct route through Kazakhstan, skipping the Pamir Highway, or any of the other Stan countries. I can sense, they will drive hard.

Boten is one of those weird border town outposts, where people thrive who prefer to live a bit outside the norms and laws. It’s mainly a Chinese enclave in the middle of the Laotian jungle, mainly populated by Chinese who prefer just to live outside the reach of Chinese law and authorities. Then there are the Laotian luck-seeker, desperate enough to get up here and to try to have a bit of a better life, and then the armies of female night workers serving those lonely Chinese men. So far, I have not seen another westerner here, not even at the hotel.

Had a good nap this afternoon, tried later to fix the issue with the location links on the Website, will see how to fix it to be more stable.

Having dinner now, a bit of Laotian food, similar to Thai food at the market.

Noodle soup is always a safe choice

Will go to bed early. Not so much useful to do here in Boten.
